CD Backups

February 1st, 2008

Very important, should be done every day but at LEAST once a week, even if you have FileMaker Server.
For those of you using Server and CDBurnerXP, I’ve put together a step-by-step guide to backing up the very latest versions of your files.
It is quicker to backup a backup on the external hard drive, but to start off with it’d be best to save the absolute up-to-date version.

You can find a PDF of the instructions here:
CDBurnerXP Tutorial for Server

I hope this is a help to people.

Starting and Stopping Filemaker SERVER

June 16th, 2007

Download these utilities if you are using Filemaker Server. Install on the SERVER computer only (NOT REC1).
Installation will put three utilities on your desktop.
1) Start Server Use this if you have just stopped the server software. Server automatically runs when you switch on the computer.
2) Stop Server Stop the server if you need to restore from a backup or upgrade the system.
3) Shutdown Server Use this utility last thing at night. You can click on this at night and you will automatically create a backup to the external hard drive, then shut down the server computer.

Installation is very simple. You will be asked for the Drive letter of your external hard drive. (eg…F)

You can find the file here.

New NHS Fees 1st June 2007

May 23rd, 2007

New NHS fees come into effect on the 1st June. We will be sending users a Disk with the new fees and updating instructions in a few days. The update will also fix the display in the treatment file to allow easy flagging when PA limit is reached.
Please phone Alistair or Stewart if there are any problems with loading the new fees.

New instructions have been posted

February 13th, 2007

Simon Locke has kindly written a set of instructions for the newer users among you to download and print off. They’re very useful to have sitting in reception somewhere so that you can grab them to check something, and explain key elements of using the software. They are a work in progress, however, so all comments, requests and suggestions will be gratefully recieved via our Contact Us page, or via the user group.

You can find Simon’s instructions for download on our handouts and instructions page.

Rejected EDI Files

November 29th, 2006

If you are emailing me a rejected batch of claims it is important that you send these files as ATTACHMENTS. Don’t embed the files in the message or your emailing software will put in carriage returns and punctuation and generally mess things up.

If anyone wants to do a “dummy” run just email me a file from your dpduploads folder on REC2 and I will tell you if you’ve done it right

send to Al@goodteith.co.uk

Mailmerge File from Training Weekend Ready for Download

September 14th, 2006

I have completed the file we were working on at the training weekend. Download this file and you can import records from your “found set” for any layout you care to create. The file will install into your Dental Surgery Docs folder and is called Alistair. Rename this file to your own name and it will not be overwritten at update time.

Please feel free to call us if you have any questions.

You can dowload the file from our Downloads page.

More instructions from Elaine

September 2nd, 2006

Elaine has finished another lot of instructions, find the web and pdf versions here again. Or you can go straight to them using the links on the navigation bar. I’ve also fixed the Contact Us form, so it definitely works properly now.

Elaine’s Instructions

August 21st, 2006

Elaine has typed up some instruction sheets for a few things. You’ll find them here. You can print them off from the website or download the pdf versions. I’m sure Elaine will take requests as well, you can let her know with the Contact Us page.

Goodteith Weekend post mortem

August 21st, 2006

The first “Getting more from Goodteith” training weekend is all over, and everyone managed to get through it. Sally has stopped cooking this morning, Alistair is seeing some teeth and things are getting back to normal.
We hope everyone managed to take plenty away from the weekend: we certainly learnt a huge amount about putting on courses. Next time will definitely have course handouts, and Elaine’s instructions will posted on this site over the next few days as she writes them.
We will put together this extra file Alistair made on Saturday and make it available to download. Feel free to change away, & we promise never ever to touch it again so you can keep all the letters you make in it.

Thanks to Dental Directory for the wine.

A huge thanks to Trossachs Backpackers for letting us use the hostel all weekend. It’s a fantastic facility and we’d definitely like to do future courses there as well.

Goodteith Weekend full

August 13th, 2006

The training weekend is now full.
Don’t panic though, if it all goes well we’ll do more in the future.
